Kiko Make Up Haul

Being the most easily influenced consumer in the country, all I had to do was see Laura (from Belles Boutique)'s Instagram snap including swatches of one of Kiko's Limited Edition palettes shortly before Christmas - see the exact image she posted here - and I was hopping over to her blog to read the full post on the palette, made sure it functioned as good as it looked and I was following her link over to the Kiko site ready to make my first purchase from them faster than you could say 'spontaneous spender'.

Regular delivery costs from Kiko are £5.90 which is a little bit heart wrenching and would have put me off making an order completely had it not been for their 'new customer introductory discount', where within 14 days of signing up to the site you are entitled to FREE standard delivery - thank the Lord! However, I know I'll be reluctant to make any spontaneous orders again with postage costs that high (they come from Italy so it is international delivery).

The only UK Kiko store is on Regent Street in London, so the next time I'm down there (happens about once a year), I'll be sure to pop in and see what else takes my fancy because I'm very impressed with the purchases I've made here.

Before this, I was a complete Kiko virgin and had only really seen their names crop up on blogs a few times, and hadn't had much of an interest in them. I had actually assumed that they were somewhat of a super budget brand.. something similar to MUA or ELF, but their products are more your standard high street brand price range, but with a high quality. Not quite high end, but far better than budget brands. As a price example, they have lipsticks that range from £3.90 - £6.90 and their mascaras are all just over £7 - Not bad, eh?

Anyway, onto the haul:
(Like I needed to buy more make up anyway..)

Kiko Colour Impact Eyeshadow Palette - 01 Lounge Warm Tones
This eyeshadow palette is the original product that I was making the order for and I do not regret it - Have you ever seen such a pretty winter eyes palette? That purple in the top middle is amazing! Six stunning colours; 3 matte and 3 shimmer shade, and they're incredibly pigmented too. Plus, I've just looked it up to get a link aaaand.. it's in the 50% off sale!! Currently £8.40 instead of the £16.90 that I paid (urgh, hate it when that happens - especially when it went in the sale before I'd even used it. That is just the worst!). I would've recommended this palette for the original almost £17 price, but now I'd especially recommend it at half the price, and it's limited edition too so won't be around forever - go, go, go!

Kiko Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadows - 28 Avorio and 06 Golden Brown
I'd asked Laura for some recommendations of good Kiko products to fill my order out and she suggested the long lasting eyeshadow sticks, so I got two shades: a light shimmery champagne shade, and a darker wearable bronze shade. These cost £6.90 each and that may seem a bit steep for a skinny little stick, but these are amazing, and literally the best cream shadow products I own - They're 10x better than the Maybelline Color Tattoos and a fraction of the price of the Bobbi Brown shadow sticks. In the swatches shown that is just one light swipe to create that amount pigment, and they can easily be smudged and blended out too. They're so easy to work with and such pretty colours, not to mention their staying power; anytime I wear these I always have to bust out my super strength eye make up removers to really make a dent in getting them off.

Kiko Smart Lipsticks - 912 Crimson Red and 904 Strawberry Pink
These are only £3.90 a piece, and they're not the best lipsticks but they're far from the worst either. The only thing that bugs me is that I thought I was getting a red and a pink, but the colours ended up being so similar it's hard to even tell them apart. If I'd have known they'd be so similar, I wouldn't have bothered getting both. But, they're well pigmented and are soft, smooth and creamy like a balm on the lips and I do like the colour so it's not the end of the world having two similar lipsticks. I like these and I'll definitely use them a lot in the summer as a quick and easy lip colour.

Kiko Smart Eye Pencil - 803 Granite Purple
The Kiko smart eyeliners are £2.50 and come in a range of 16 different colours. Branching out from typical blacks, browns and blue.. I strayed to a deep metallic purple liner and I'm thoroughly impressed. It's a rarity when I do feel like wearing pencil liner but the subtle shimmer of the purple is perfect for a little extra added glam but it's a subtle enough colour to wear through the day just with mascara to keep it simple. I love how soft this is so it doesn't tug on the eye area, but neither does it slip and smudge through the night.

My favourites from the order are definitely the Colour Impact palette (look out for a full review before the end of the month), and the Golden Brown eyeshadow stick.

As far as I'm aware the official Kiko site is actually the only UK online stockist for them at the moment. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me on this one! I'd love to see the brand being stocked in Boots or Superdrug sometime soon and becoming more well established in the UK market.

Have you tried anything from Kiko before?

  5. I've not bought anything from Kiko before, but they seem like e.l.f but more expensive. I think I need to make an order to try things out myself :) Love the look of this palette, but such a shame about those lipsticks. They really are almost the same colour! x
