SheSaid Beauty Box | October

I did lots and lots of huffing, puffing and grumbling whilst unpacking this month's beauty box from SheSaid, so if you're not up for reading a moan-y, negative post then read no further! I was very unhappy with the contents of October's box, and not just because I took rubbish pictures of the products ..but beause the products themselves were pants and I feel extremely cheated this month.

Each box from SheSaid costs £9.00 plus £2.95 p&p but luckily (or maybe unluckily) for me I signed up to a 6 month subscription with a 50% discount. The postive: each of my boxes only cost me £4.50. The negative: I'm tied in until January and I'm not happy with what I've been paying for.

If want to see my reviews on past boxes I've done ones for June, July, August and September and all of them I have either been really impressed with or felt quite average about. Never before have I felt disappointment after disappointment when taking my products out of the box like this month. I'd had a little look at the website's 'sneak peek' of the available products on the day that my box was despatched and one thing in particular caught my eye that I knew I didn't want to receive. Just my luck there it was sitting at the top of my box..

Amy Childs Fragrance by Jigsaw ESL sample size. Full size 30ml £14.99 / 50ml £19.99.
For a start I don't like perfume samples, I have loads and never use them, plus they're technically available for free at perfume counters in department stores so I don't like paying for them. And secondly, why would I want something that's made my Amy Childs? I'm going to be very blunt right now and say that she's tacky and an idiot so I don't want a product from her line - sorry if you're a fan! Thanks, but no thanks She Said.

Biao Beauty Rejuvenating Night Creme sample size 2x2ml sachets. Full size 118ml costs $24.50.
Okay well first of all thanks for giving me the price in dollars ..helpful. I know it's not difficult for me to find a currency convertor online but that's not too helpful to me at quick glance of how interested I might be in this product as price does always play a part in it for me. I've never heard of the brand Biao before but nothing is screaming out to me that this is going to be amazing or anything unique - a night cream that claims to smooth, moisturise and protect against premature aging. I'll obviously still try it out though but I'm not sure how much difference I'll be able to notice from just 2 applications.

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Travel Size Lotion "full size" (ahem travel size).  250ml costs £3.85.
She Said have always been pretty good for being generous with their full sized products in boxes, such as eyelashes, the Balance Me handcreams and lipbalms, the Collection primers and setting sprays and there is usually about 2-3 full sized products in each box. This months had just 2, one being a 'bonus product' sachet of vitamins which I will come onto later, and the second being this bottle of Palmer's cocoa butter which I feel the need to point out is their TRAVEL SIZE version which I technically don't class as a full size and it is also available extremely widely for just £1!! Because of it's high availability, ranging from Poundland and Body Care to supermarkets like Asda and Tesco means that you'll have a stuggle to find somebody who doesn't own this already, or at least hasn't tried it or heard of it. How is this product in any way supposed to be introducing me to a new and luxury high end brand? I'm a little bit confused. I will add that I do love the product and have used it before and would buy it again, but it's something I will go out and buy for £1 down the road, not something I want as part of a £9 per month luxury beauty box. *huff*.

Cellnique Advanced Bio Renewal Masque 3g sample size. full size 50g costs $51.00. - Again what is with the prices in dollars?!
I feel the need to apologise for rubbish-y pictures for these ones, I'm no professional photographer and I spend a lot of time battling with my own shadow! But anyway, I literally had to DIG through my box and rummage through all of the shredded paper to find this product and the next one because they were so small and I almost missed them! This is a pricey product at $51 a pop but it does have quite impressive claims and if it lives up to them then I'm sure it could be worth splashing out on: "effectively works in exfoliating dead skin cells, optimizing the cellular renewal performance and deeply cleanses poses, thus revealing a softer, fresher and healthier skin". This does sound really good and a product that I could have an interest in, but with the sample size being so small I'm not sure how many uses I could get out of it; maybe 3 or 4? And I don't really know if that is enough to give me a proper feel of the product and whether or not I like it but we'll see.

B.Liv Off With Those Heads sample size. full size 30ml $49.00 / 45ml $63.00. - DOLLARS?!
The second product that I had to dig for is also by the brand Cellnique and this gel claims to remove blackheads and whiteheads which I personally don't have too much of a problem with, but there is a few pesky ones I'd like to get rid off for sure. "It keeps excessive oil secretion under control while preventing future irration and breakouts" - sounds alright. HOWEVER, there is a little bit on the back of the tube thats explains how it is normal to experience oilier than usual skin when first using this product. Well that's no good for me is it? Use the sample size a couple of times, end up with really oily skin and then have run out of product to continue using and reap the full benefits?? Pretty sure I won't even bother trying this one out if it's told me that it's going to give me oily skin and not a lot else.

myvitamins vitamin D full size bonus product. £2.49 for 30 tablets.
Last, and yes probably least too, is the 'bonus full size product' of a pack of 30 vitamin D tablets - Wow. I don't even know what vitamin D is supposed to do for you? What is it good for? Incase you wondered the same thing then I did actually Google it and found out that it is basically the vitamin that you get from exposure to sunlight (definitely going to be deprived on that with an English winter!) and it is a "steroid vitamin that aids the absoption and metabolism of calcium" Oo getting scientific now. Well, I'm not too sure what to make of these, I've never been one for taking vitamins or supplements but I suppose that now I have these sitting on the side then I may as well take them. One a day preferably with food is my only instruction so that is what I will do.

Normally at this point now I would be posting my referral link left, right and centre for you to be joining up for yourself and I do normally recommend this to everybody over GlossyBox but right now all I want to do is tell you not to waste your money and don't bother signing up. If I wasn't tied into a subscription then I would be unsubscribing pronto! I've tweeted SheSaid to let them know of my dissatisfaction and they assured me I'd be happier with November's box so let's hope they're right - I don't want to do any more moaning!!

SheSaid will probably hate me for this brutally honest review, but I wanted to give my full and true feelings about the products that I paid for and received. I hope that this was helpful to some of you who took the time to read, please leave your own thoughts in the comments below.

And don't forget that I am currently running a celebratory 200 followers GIVEAWAY that ends at the end of this month.

  2. I wasn't impressed either, I got the same products as you apart from the Amy Childs scent (I got a hand cream instead). I think I will be unsubbing if the next box isn't an improvement which is a shame as I really liked the first box I got (The one with the St Tropez).

  3. Thank you for the review - I didn't get the perfume either... don't do celebrity perfumes, ever.
Not sure if you should take vits that come as a sample. I am a nutritionist and always ask my clients to be very particular with whatever they put in their bodies, including vitamin pills.
And frankly, I am not convinced by those at all... Never heard of the company or its reputation.
