LUSH: 'Fizz Banger' | Bath Ballistic

This weekend, like most weekends, I took the time to spend a whole evening pampering myself within an inch of my life.. because we all need those treat nights all alone with peace and quiet to take a bit of extra time and care looking after ourselves. I'm talking red hot bath, full body exfoliation, hair mask, face mask, candles, the lot! But a night like this isn't quite complete without a little extra from Lush in the form of a 'bath ballistic', also known as a 'bath bomb'.

I took to Twitter mid-week and posed the question of whether or not there were any bath ballistics that left bubbles behind too once then had finished whizzing and fizzing around the bath, and was answered by Lush themselves that they had 4 of these available: Dragon's Egg, The Enchanter, Twilight and Fizz Banger, all priced at £3.20 each. I can hear you all asking 'isn't £3.20 a little pricey for something you throw in a bath for it to dissolve and disappear?'. Well, you'd spend more than that getting a coffee from Starbucks or a burger from McDonalds, so what's the harm in this? Each to their own with what they spend a couple of pounds a week on to give themselves a treat.

As you might have guessed, my bath ballistic of choice was 'Fizz Banger'. You can tell from the pictures that as soon as it hit the water it began frothing and fizzing and released a yellow foam, turning the water yellow. As it dissolved further it started to release a blue foam from inside, and it left a trail of blue froth and as it spiralled around the bath, gradually turning the water from yellow to green. This is described as smelling like cinnamon and candy apples.. but I thought it smelt a lot more like lemon and apples - still very sweet and yummy none the less! Fizz Banger contains 'popping rocks' which snap and crackle as they dissolve in the water and this left the water full of bubbles and foam and a rich blue-green colour. The water felt very 'silky' which left the skin feeling soft and moisturised and smelling lovely too. There was also an extra added surprise in there of the 'bang' on a piece of paper, this was a bit unnecessary as it scared the life out of me when I was swishing my hands around the bath and something slimey attacked my finger - I wasn't expecting it to be there and didn't know what it was at first!

Fizz Banger is a really nice little treat for the bath if you're looking for fizzing and popping turquoise coloured water that smells like sweet lemons and apples and leaves the skin feeling silky and smooth after a long hot soak! I can't wait to try out the other 3 similar ones mentioned by Lush and see what they have in store for me!

  1. Ooh this looks lovely! But I completely agree, I HATE it when Lush put extra things in their bath bombs like that BANG bit of paper. I don't like things floating around in the bath, it makes me gag, I think it's because it reminds me of like a plaster floating in a swimming pool....ewwww *shudders*
