Products I've Used Up | Empties #2

Hey lovely ladies. 'Empties' was once a monthly feature on this blog, but since I'm useless at staying loyal to one product for any length of time and like to replace them with something new before they're finished, means that 'empty products' aren't all that common for me. Tut tut, it's not a good thing. Storage space is becoming an issue and some kind of 'one out three out, one in' procedure is going to have to implemented - ASAP. Ha, rambles aside, here's what I've used up over the past couple of months with a quick review:

Batiste Dry Shampoo (Tropical) - Ahh Batiste! Is there a lady in the land that doesn't swear by you? I know I do. We all know the drill; it's perfect for mopping up excess oil at the roots, tying you over between washes and also excellent for adding volume, body and texture to the hair. I don't ever want to be without this.

Would I buy again? Already have done, and in a bigger size too.

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor Deep Conditioner - Another product that I swear by. This is one deep conditioner that never lets me down and will always leave my hair in a soft, smooth and shiny state in less than five minutes and for less than £5. I don't think this could get any better. (Full review)

Would I buy again? Without a doubt, yes.

Lush Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask - I am a lover of Lush skincare and have tried a couple of other fresh face masks in the past. This one was a 'freebie' after trading in 5 empty pots and I picked it up because at the time I had quite a stubborn break out. The mask is full of blueberry anti-oxidants and is intended to calm the skin when 'disaster looms'. The only thing I can say is that this didn't work. It didn't do anything at all to calm my skin at all, and if anything the heavy fragrance aggravated it more! Eep, disappointment :(

Would I buy again? Not this specific mask, but I'd try another variation.

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat - This isn't so much 'empty', just more of a 'gone gloopy beyond salvation', and is in a thick and sorry state. I tried to do the whole 'mix in a bit of nail varnish remover to thin it out' trick but it still left a really uneven and bubbly top layer of my nails - nicht gut. It's a shame because this was a top class quick drying top coat that help keep me chip free for longer. Now that this is a goner, I'm having a mental battle with myself over Seche Vite? Or no Seche Vite? Do I? Don't I? ..Help!

Would I buy again? If I don't opt for Seche Vite as an alternative then yes, I will buy this again.

Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara - My favourite mascara that I have ever used, ever. I'd never review a mascara because when describing them they all sound the same and everyone has different preferences over the formula and brushes they prefer. But this is one with a bristle brush that adds length and volume and makes quite a dramatic impact, all without smudging or flaking throughout the day.

Would I buy again? Already have done!

SAMPLES

Clinique Liquid Facial Soap (Mild) - A sample from Clinique Bonus Time (post) and part of their '3 Step' skincare range. I enjoyed using this on the odd occasion because it was a really foamy-sudsy-soapy-squeaky-clean style face wash, but it's not a stand out star for me and it was quite drying on the skin.

Would I buy again? No, too drying for my skin.

Clinique All About Eyes Eye Cream - Again, from the Clinque Bonus Time set (post), but this one I enjoyed using. I'm no eye cream expert, and it's a skincare step I'm still just tip-toeing into, but as far as I'm concerned this was a really lovely and rich moisturising eye cream that left the area nourished, less puffy, and worked at fading any dark circles. (Full review)

Would I buy again? Not definitely, but potentially.

Alpha-H Liquid Gold - This cult product is one that I kind of wish wasn't introduced to my life because now I feel hooked and it's a pricey little guy to get addicted too. It works as a chemical exfoliating overnight treatment and basically gives you fresh, new, plumped up skin for when you wake up. These small samples didn't get me too far but they were enough for me to know that Liquid Gold is going to be a long-term must-have in my life.

Would I buy again? Already have done!

Ginvera Exfoliating Marvel Gel - Everyone's all about manual exfoliation alternatives these days so here's another one you can try; it's an exfoliating gel with no harsh beads or grains and no acid but it works as the most gentle, simple and efficient exoliator I've ever come across. I find this perfect to use when my skin's oily because it helps to control sebum production as well 'rolling off' any dead surface skin cells. I have no idea how it does it; must be some kind of Asian magic.

Would I buy again? I've already bought the full size of this and have reviewed it here

Redken Radiant-10 Treatment Spray - I feel a little bit like I never stop talking about this product, but it really is one of my all time favourites. It's a multi-benefit treatment spray that has an apparent 10 amazing benefits for the hair, but you can read more about all of those in my full review on this. For me, this works as a really good detangler and leave-in conditioner that I swear by. I'm overjoyed that I have another of these sample size bottles saved away because it's absolutely ideal for taking on holiday.

Would I buy again? As above, I've already bought the full size of this product and reviewed it here. I would buy this again and again and again.

Weleda Wild Rose Smoothing Night Cream - A rose scented night cream that I really enjoyed using. I honestly don't feel like there's a whole lot I can say about this apart from it calmed my skin and left it nice and moisturised. It always felt pretty damn good in the morning after I'd used this before bed.

Would I buy again? Maybe, no reason why I wouldn't, but there are other night creams I'd be interested in trying before I'd go back to this one.

Phew! A few more there than I thought there was. No major disappointments in this batch of empties, but it is definitely about time these empty bottles, pots, tubs and tubes were chucked in the bin.

Hope you enjoyed!

  3. Haha the part about the sally hansen top coat made me laugh, I hate it when my top and base coats go all sticky and gross, I always try to save 'em but in the end I just end up tossing them out. Definitely try the Seche Vite and tell us how you like it.

  4. Catastrophe Cosmetic was the first Lush mask I ever tried. What a let down. It actually made me really itchy. Good thing I'm a persistent shopper & didn't give up on Lush =)

  6. I hate when top coats get thick towards the end! That happened with my Seche Vite actually, which is sad because it is sort of expensive compared to other ones I have.

  7. i really want to try Alpha H too! I know what you mean about the Sally Hansen - it does go gloopy. If you are lucky you might spot it in TK Max. I tried Seche Vite but it isnt as good and it kind of shrinks after its applied.

  8. How interesting! I really don't get on with the revlon mascara, it tends to clump a lot on me. It's one of those that I really wanted to love too.
