Okayyyy.. so just a quick one today as I wanted to address this whole Baby Lips scene and just throw my little bit of input into the pile of reviews for this practically famous lip balm. It's the one that everybody seems to want a piece of.
This shade that I have here, Twinkle, is a limited edition one, but in general they're not readily available in the UK anyway - I bought mine from The Sunday Girl's blog sale to see what all the fuss was about. Although I do love the adorable packaging, the name is sweet as pie and I am a fan of the sugary strawberry scent of this one, I do think the hype and attention they're receiving is craaazay. I mean, there's a waiting list for them at Boots for when they come out in August?! It's a lip balm guys! They claim to offer 8 hours of moisture, and some are tinted and yeah they have nice flavours, but let's be honest with ourselves that it is just a bog standard balm! I will admit that it's the lip balm I've been reaching for most recently, but that's because of the novelty newness and the nice fruity scent that it has. It keeps the lips relatively moisturised and a tiny glossy sheen but it's not the best thing since sliced bread.
From what I've read, these are set to be £2.99 a piece when they hit the UK shelves in August, which of course isn't bank breaking so by all means pick yourself up a shade or two, because they are super cute.. but just don't expect it to change your life the way that people are going on about them. The tint that some of them have is barely visible and the temporary moisture boost isn't all that intense.
Moans aside, I still can't help but say I'm a fan!
Isn't that weird?!

The hype that these receive does make me laugh, but at least it's not as bad as other things, MSF's for example, I once saw a girl crying outside a MAC counter because Stereo Rose was sold out. (Lord almighty)
ReplyDeleteHaving said that these are cute looking and cheap so I'd still like to give them a try :)

A waiting list at Boots? Oh wow. I have to be honest these are not the greatest lip balms I've encountered. I prefer my Nivea lipbalms anyday. Which is what makes this craze seem so odd to me because they really are not that moisturizing. But they do look cute! :)

As much as I do love these, I find that these are not the best lip balms out there. I prefer Blistex even though its an ordinary balm!

They do seem really nice, but I've never got why they're so hyped up! Like you said, they're just lip balms haha :) I do think £2.99 is a good price though, I was expecting them to be more! xx

I don't understand why these are raved about so much. I actually hate them. I live in America, and I bought a few, and they were alright. Not that great.... Lovely post hun x
ReplyDeleteI want to get my hands on these, purely because they are so talked about haha! xx
ReplyDeleteHaha, yeah I have a feeling that these are a bit over-hyped! Having said that, I can't wait to pick up a couple when I go to the States! :D

I love a bit of lip balms me but the hype the Baby Lips has been getting is a bit cray cray. I have yet to try them but I'll never understand the fuss over them. I also can't believe there is a waiting list for them in Boots. Oh my. :O
ReplyDeleteI would quite like to try these since they are only a few pounds but I could take it or leave it to be honest! From what I've been reading they don't sound that amazing! A waiting list in Boots? I don't think I'll be going on that anyway! :)

Nice to know, that after all the fuss and never trying it - I don't feel like missing out much anymore :)
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely blog and I'm a new subscriber, so just wanted to say hello for the first time! Loved the last outfit post as well.

I'm a massive fan of lip products, they're one of my favourite things but i haven't been bothered by these at all. I don't get the hype in the slightest, they seem fairly average!x
ReplyDeleteI already have the peppermint but I do want to try one with a tint and fruity scent xx
ReplyDeleteAs soon as these came online on superdrug (a couple of days ago) I bought them - they are so hyped up! x

That's an interesting piece of post. You are right some things are hyped too much even though they are just ordinary. But Maybelline is a known brand so it has a kind of a right to make big claims. Similarly nonsurgical facelift creams or serums are hyped too much for their anti-ageing effects but many do not come up to the claims.
